I believe that we are all born worthy of giving and receiving love. I think that life often gets in the way of this, causing us to create a defensive structure that serves to protect us from bumps, bruises and in some cases trauma along the way. However, that which serves to protect us from harm also protects us from an open and healthy exchange of love in our lives. The defenses we create in childhood to protect us can become outdated and often hold us back if we allow them to stay in place, unexamined, in our adult lives. And this creates dysfunction of many kinds. As we examine our defensive reactions, our thoughts and beliefs, and the stories we have created about our lives, we can begin to shift into more open, trusting beings. I believe this in turn can begin to raise our level of consciousness, and to me, this is a worthwhile endeavor. This is much of the work I do in my practice with others, and it is what I will attempt to share through various topics in this blog.
